Len McGill

Len is the Lead Singer with the band and apart from playing the fool augments the percussion section to keep his hands busy.  As a young man he sang in Christ Church Cathedral Choir progressing to the top benches as his voice got lower.  He always wanted to be able to sing like the late Jim Reeves.

Settling for what he was given he took to local radio broadcasting, where for some 19 years he fed his interest in music.  He has presented everything from classical to pop and states that he loves any music that you don't have to imbibe chemicals to appreciate. Vocally influenced early in his life by many of the old crooners, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby even Dean Martin, through many musicals at the local cinema and his parents, his musical education met Elvis, Clapton, Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and then on to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Queen.  The unsurpassed vocal antics of Freddie made Len state, "now I know why I always wanted to be a Bass player".  A man passionate about his country of birth he served in the Falkland Islands Defence Force and took up arms on 1st/ 2nd April 1982 to stand against the invading Argentine forces.  A tragic fire at the local hospital in 1984 proved a turning point in his life and career as a civil servant as he left general management and became a Police Officer where he specialised as a Scenes of Crime Officer and became a Detective in the CID.  He now oversees the good behaviour of the Trough crowds as Inspector with the Royal Falkland Islands Police.
